Originally from rural Alberta, Canada he completed an MD at the University of Calgary, haematology training at McMaster University, and a Clinical Fellowship in Stem Cell Transplantation at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, Massachusetts. Since coming to New Zealand he has had a strong interest in policy and transplant leadership and is involved with regional and national Transplant Planning in Aotearoa\/New Zealand.
