Dr Kate Markey completed the MBBS/PhD program at the University of Queensland in 2010, followed by clinical training largely at the RBWH, finishing in 2017. She subsequently moved to Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York, to continue her research relating to the immunological complications of HCT, and also joined the clinical faculty there. Her work at MSK focused on the intestinal microbiome, and she contributed a number of key studies in the field. She was recruited to the Fred Hutch Cancer Center in Seattle in 2021, and her lab continues to focus on the complications of allogeneic stem cell transplantation. Her research program spans clinical observational studies, interventional trials, and pre-clinical mechanistic projects. She is an attending physician on the BMT and Immunotherapy service at the Fred Hutch and University of Washington.
